YCF and Arts Council Announce 2021 Organizational Arts Grant

December 1, 2020

Morgantown, WV – In a continuous effort to support area art organizations and ensure a variety of cultural programs are available in our community, Arts Council of Greater Morgantown (Arts Council), formerly known as Arts Mon, and Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia, Inc. (YCF) announce the Organizational Arts Grant for 2021. The collaborative grant program includes funding support from the Monongalia County Commission and the City of Morgantown, as well as private donors.

The Organizational Arts Grant program provides funding for nonprofit, arts-related organizations and projects in Monongalia County.  More than $200,000 has been allocated in 2020.  A few examples of projects funded this year include theater programming for children and adults, cultural exhibits, murals, music technology programming, and community art classes.

The mission of Organizational Arts Grant Program is to broaden base support for the arts, promote excellence in the arts, and ensure that arts and cultural organizations provide a variety of arts programs for our community. The grant structure and criteria were developed by a committee of community volunteers, with representation from individual artists and arts organizations.

“It is a pleasure to award such deserving creatives in our community,” said Arts Council Executive Director, Beth Keener-Flannery.” In a time of ‘new normals,’ it’s delightful to know that we are still able to provide these groups with grant funding and special recognition for their continued artistic efforts in Greater Morgantown.”

“Each year YCF receives many worthy arts grant requests but resources are limited,” said YCF President, Patty Showers Ryan. “Our goal is to increase funding for local nonprofit organizations while growing endowment funds for long term sustainability. Community members and businesses are encouraged to make a tax-deductible gift to support the arts.”
