MORGANTOWN, W.VA. – Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia, Inc. (YCF) has awarded 19 grants totaling over $40,000 to assist nonprofits in addressing the immediate impacts of COVID-19, focusing on needs related to food, shelter and safety.

The following organizations have been awarded grants from YCF’s Emergency Impact Fund:  Bartlett House, Inc.; Bi-County Nutrition Program, Inc.; Christian Help, Inc.; Connecting Link, Inc.; Food for Preston; Harrison County Senior Citizens Center; Homes for Harrison; Libera, Inc.; Marion County Schools; Monongalia County Starting Points Family Resource Center (Shack Neighborhood House); Morgantown Area Meals on Wheels; Pantry Plus More, Inc.; Preston County Workshop; Rape & Domestic Violence Information Center; Salvation Army – Morgantown; Taylor County Family Resources; The Clarksburg Mission, Inc.; the United Way of Marion and Taylor Counties; and the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties.

Recognizing the unprecedented challenges faced by the nonprofit community, YCF provided an initial $10,000 to establish this non-endowed, emergency fund.  Businesses, foundations and individuals in the community have also made generous contributions.  YCF would like to recognize the EQT and Giant Eagle Foundations for their recent donations to this fund.

“We are grateful for the generosity of our community in supporting the nonprofits on the front lines of this pandemic,” said Patty Showers Ryan, YCF President.  “These organizations are working hard to address the needs of the most vulnerable among us, while facing unprecedented financial strains.  We are pleased to coordinate this effort to provide them with emergency funding to support the clients they serve.”

In order to continue making grant awards to address the impacts of COVID-19, YCF encourages additional donations to the Emergency Impact Fund.  One-hundred percent of donations will be distributed directly to local nonprofits most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

To make a donation to the Emergency Impact Fund for North Central West Virginia, checks made payable to “YCF” may be sent to PO Box 409, Morgantown, WV 26507. Please include “Emergency Impact Fund” in the memo line. Alternatively, contributions may be made online at www.ycfwv.org/donate.  All contributions are tax-deductible.

Nonprofits operating in YCF’s service area of Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston and Taylor Counties are eligible to apply for grants from this fund.  To ease the burden on these organizations, YCF is offering a streamlined, expedited application process with an online application available at www.ycfwv.org. Grants are reviewed on a bi-weekly basis, and awards will be made as long as funds are available.

YCF’s mission is to promote philanthropy and build endowment funds to benefit our communities.  Through financial resources, YCF extends many forms of assistance to qualified people, programs and projects.  Primarily serving North Central West Virginia, YCF’s underlying goal is always to enhance the quality of life for those the organization serves.
