Morgantown, WV – Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia, Inc. (YCF) has announced a significant milestone as part of its $1 Million Match Campaign. This campaign includes goals of raising $900,000 for the YCF IMPACT Fund and $100,000 for the YCF Addiction Prevention Initiative Fund.
The YCF IMPACT Fund goal of $900,000 has been achieved. The fund is unrestricted, meaning YCF has flexibility with grantmaking to meet changing community needs as they evolve over time. YCF distributes earnings annually through grants to benefit charitable organizations within its service area, which includes Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston and Taylor Counties.
“Unrestricted dollars are some of the most difficult to fundraise,” said Patty Showers Ryan, YCF President. “We are incredibly grateful for all the donors who have made an investment to support the community in perpetuity.”
While the $900,000 YCF IMPACT Fund goal has been met, $73,125 is still needed to meet the $100,000 goal for the Addiction Prevention Initiative Fund. As part of the $1 Million Match Campaign, all gifts to the fund will be matched 100%. The endowment fund will provide grants to programs geared to lessen and alter the destructive impact of alcohol and drug addiction on children and their families through education and professional support at the grassroots level.
“Each of us has been impacted in some way by addiction,” said Martin Howe, YCF Board Chair. “We are grateful for our donors who recognize the importance of investing in community strategies to prevent addiction.”
YCF has received $926,855 towards the $1 Million goal. In addition, the anonymous donor who spearheaded the $1 Million Match Campaign has matched all donations and pledges to date.
Individuals, businesses, and foundations are encouraged to support the Addiction Prevention Initiative Fund. Naming opportunities are available for donations of $10,000 or more.
