GMCT Grant Kicks Off Mylan Park Playground Effort

2007-05-07

The Greater Morgantown Community Trust is pleased to present a grant check for $6,600 dollars to Mylan Park Elementary School from the Ruth and John Garlow Education Fund. Through the generosity of GMCT donors, Ruth and John Garlow, who provided for the academic and education needs of Cass Elementary students three years ago, GMCT is able to grant these funds which will be used to help initiate the new Mylan Park Elementary’s fundraising campaign.

The campaign will provide a playground at the new Mylan Park Elementary School. Mylan Park Elementary was formed from Cass Elementary School, Riverside Elementary School and Arnettsville Elementary School and opened in January of this year. The State of West Virginia School Building Authority has been generous in its support of the new school construction in the greater Morgantown area but funding for important aspects of these new schools, such as playgrounds, is unavailable through the state. GMCT is pleased to partner with Mylan Park Elementary and encourage students, staff and parents in their efforts.

The grant was made available through the Ruth and John Garlow Education Trust Fund. GMCT maintains over 70 community funds in the areas of arts, education, sports and recreation, health and social services, and community development. Donations to any fund at GMCT may be made online at http://www.gmctfoundation.org or mailed to the Greater Morgantown Community Trust, P.O. Box 409, Morgantown, WV 26507.
