M-SNAP RECEIVES TWO COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS

April 18th Mountaineer Spay Neuter Assistance Program (M-SNAP), recently received the
2011 Community Service Award from the Mountaineer Kennel Club during their
annual awards ceremony.  In addition, the WVU Center for Civic Engagement has awarded the Excellence in Civic
Engagement Award (Community Partner category) to Nancy Young, chair of the
M-SNAP Community Outreach Committee.

M-SNAP is an all-volunteer, non-profit that promotes spay/neuter as the only permanent
solution to reducing pet overpopulation in Monongalia County.  This growing service organization has issued
over 3,000 spay/neuter vouchers since late 2008 in a county with an estimated
domestic and feral animal population of over 69,000*.

To support their Voucher and Education Programs, the  M-SNAP volunteers operate a thrift store located in the Morgantown Mall called ReTails by M-SNAP.  Items donated by the public are resold and 100% of the net profit goes toward sterilization of at-risk animals.  Another fund raiser that absolutely everyone can participate in is shopping at Amazon.com via the M-SNAP webpage.
