Morgantown, WV – Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia, Inc. (YCF) and the Arts Council of Greater Morgantown (ACGM) are pleased to announce the 2022 Organizational Arts Grant recipients.  Awards total $169,700 for local arts and cultural organizations in Monongalia County.  Funding was provided by the City of Morgantown, the Monongalia County Commission and the YCF Douglas H. Tanner Memorial Fund for the Arts.

The following organizations received awards:  Friends of Deckers Creek, Friends of the Morgantown History Museum, M.T. Pockets Theatre Company, Monongahela River Trails Conservancy, Monongalia Arts Center (MAC), Morgantown Art Association, Morgantown Art Party, Morgantown Dance, Morgantown Theatre Company, Spark! Imagination and Science Center, Summit Chamber Music Series, West Virginia Botanic Garden, and West Virginia Public Theatre.  Additionally, in collaboration with ACGM, grant funding will support a Star City mural project and Pop-Up Plazas in Morgantown.

“Thanks to a variety of local nonprofits dedicated to the arts, we have a community that is filled with opportunity for both the visual and performing arts,” said Lisa Giuliani, Grant Program Chair. “The donated funds help our local arts organizations provide family-friendly, cultural art experiences for Morgantown and Monongalia County. Our residents have a lot to be proud of when it comes to our community’s support for the arts.”

The mission of the Organizational Arts Grant program is to broaden base support for the arts, promote excellence in the arts and ensure that our community has a variety of arts programs. The grant structure and criteria were developed by a committee of volunteers, with representation from individual artists and arts organizations.

Since 2018, when the City of Morgantown and the Monongalia County Commission began collaborating on the Organizational Arts Grant program, nearly $1 million in grant funding has been awarded to local nonprofits working to promote the arts in Monongalia County.

The 2023 Grant Application will be available in April, online at www.ycfwv.org.
