MORGANTOWN, W.VA. – Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia, Inc. (YCF) has recently awarded three new grants totaling $7,500 to assist nonprofits in addressing the impacts of COVID-19, focusing on needs related to food, shelter and safety. To-date, $133,040 have been awarded to 45 local nonprofits through YCF’s Emergency Impact Fund.
The most recent grants from YCF’s Emergency Impact Fund were awarded to: The Change Initiative, The Community Kitchen, and the Salvation Army of Clarksburg.
Recognizing the unprecedented challenges faced by the nonprofit community, YCF provided an initial $10,000 to establish this non-endowed, emergency fund. Businesses, foundations and individuals in the community have joined the effort, making generous contributions.
“The pandemic continues to put a strain on nonprofits serving our most vulnerable community members,” said Patty Showers Ryan, YCF President. “Through the generosity of our community, we are able to provide financial support to agencies working to provide basic needs like food and shelter.”
In order to continue making grant awards to address the impacts of COVID-19, YCF encourages additional donations to the Emergency Impact Fund. One-hundred percent of donations will be distributed directly to local nonprofits most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. To make a donation, checks made payable to “YCF” may be sent to PO Box 409, Morgantown, WV 26507. Please include “Emergency Impact Fund” in the memo line. Alternatively, contributions may be made online at www.ycfwv.org/donate. All contributions are tax-deductible.
Nonprofits addressing the impacts of COVID-19 and operating in YCF’s service area of Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston and Taylor Counties are encouraged to apply for grants from this fund. Current priority areas include food, shelter, and safety. To ease the burden on these organizations, YCF offers a streamlined, expedited application process with an online application available at www.ycfwv.org. Grants are currently reviewed on a bi-weekly basis, and awards will be made as long as funds are available.
YCF’s mission is to promote philanthropy and build endowment funds to benefit our communities. Through financial resources, YCF extends many forms of assistance to qualified people, programs and projects. Primarily serving North Central West Virginia, YCF’s underlying goal is always to enhance the quality of life for those the organization serves.
